Christmas Group Gifts Galore

Posted by James Pynn on Nov 12, 2009 under Christmas Gift Ideas

Can you hear the hoof beats of reindeer? Ho, ho, ho. It’s that time — what time? Take the time to show someone what they need to live well. What does that entail? Unique gift ideas, of course. And of course that means expensive gift ideas. Group gifting is the affordable way to spoil that special someone with an unbelievable gift.

Ever want to give that someone special something special — like a new computer or a shopping spree? Indeed, times are lean, but how about a new Christmas Fendi handbag or a yuletide iPod? To be sure, gifts that change lives are seldom less than $100, but how many of us can afford a $2000 laptop? Cue the Christmas Music: welcome to the world of group gifting! A gift is always a lovely gesture, but sometimes what you give counts more than the thought.

Making someone’s Christmas wish list a reality is a sight to behold. There is nothing like giving someone a gift so tremendous gift they collapse in to a fetal ball under the mistletoe. They tend to go weak in the knees and bawl like newborns. It’s an amazing sight to behold: a grown man weeping over a new Mac Power Book and spilling eggnog everywhere. This is the power of splitting the cost of high-end gift. What’s $1000 split ten ways? What about twenty? Peanuts.

The only problem with splitting an expensive Christmas gift is the inherent distrust of those pitching in. Yes, even during the yuletide season. Is the organizer skimming anything off the top? How much is Uncle Bob or Marge in accounting giving? The politics of giving are Byzantine and many a relationship has suffered from trying to organize a lovely gift. This is where the cold indifference of the Internet comes in handy.

Who is more impartial than a computer? Avoid the awkwardness of group gifting by letting an online service parcel out the lots and collect the money. Automatic reminders and online payments make it a hassle-free and ego-free process. Revel in the humanity free zone of modern technology.

If you are looking for some extraordinary Christmas gift ideas, you have got to see the group gifting ideas available at eDivvy.

Holiday Shopping: Good For The Economy, But Bad For Your Credit Card Balance

Posted by admin on Nov 5, 2009 under Christmas Gift Ideas

Pretty soon holiday shoppers will be setting the alarms to hit the department stores at 5am. The predictions for this year’s holiday spending are already underway as retailers and consumers gear up for a holiday shopping bonanza.

You may wonder, “Why bother with holiday shopping predictions? What does it all mean anyway?” Well, knowing the expected holiday shopping dent means a lot to the business world. In fact, Christmas is the deciding factor shaping the seasonal shopping cycle, which is connected to the business cycle.

The demand made in each season changes the business cycle dynamic, and a strong or weak Christmas can make or break the economy. Predictions for holiday shopping essentially turn into economic predictions for the coming year.

Looking back at past years can also help gauge how holiday shopping affects the economy. In 2006, the National Retail Sales Estimate reported retail sales for the week ending in December 16th were up 3.2% from 2005. Toys and Video games grew the most with a 49% jump from the previous year. Books, Music and Videos also grew at an alarming 46% and Consumer Electronics 27%.

On Black Friday of 2006, 140 million shoppers lined up outside stores and spent an average of $360.15. This amount is an 18.9 % growth from the average $302.81 spent in 2005 on the same day. Last year’s shopping season also began early. A PriceGrabber.com survey showed 38% of respondents had already started shopping in October. However, 70% stated they would still end up shopping five days before the holiday.

This same PriceGrabber survey also showed 38% planned to shop online for holiday gifts at work. Online shopping was especially prominent in 2006 and shows signs of the same for the 2007 holiday shopping season.

A 2006 study from interactive technology provider Atlas stated Mondays were one of the biggest online shopping days for 2005, with the Monday after Black Friday being one of the most popular. Such high shopping volumes on this day have led to it being called Cyber Monday.

Monday proves to be the most successful online shopping day due to shoppers hitting the mall on the weekends and then returning to sites the following day to compare mall prices and find out of stock items. During the first 56 days of the holiday shopping season last year, $23.11 billion was spent online- an 26% increase from 2005. On Saturday, December 23rd, 2006 the non-travel online spending passed the $100 billion mark for the first time.

While holiday spending may be good for the US economy, the effects on your credit card balance may not be as positing! So, here are a few easy ways to keep your holiday spending on budget:

* It doesn’t hurt to ask!: Ask salespeople about “hidden” discounts that are offered at their store. There may be unadvertised coupons or sales you can take advantage of thanks to their help.

* Check your cards: Call your credit card company to see if you can get retailer discounts. Also, make sure to use the card with the best rates when shopping.

* Save early: Start saving a fund earlier in the year by taking a little out of your paycheck each month. This way the holiday spending shock won’t be felt.

* Suggest Secret Santa: For offices or groups of friends, suggest doing a secret Santa instead of buying separate gifts for each person. This may also work well for extended family.

* Go dollar store shopping: Don’t stick up your nose at dollar stores! Great stocking stuffers as well as cheap wrapping materials can be found here.

* Pool your money for a joint gift: Go in with someone else to get a gift for a friend or family member instead of bearing the cost alone.

* Shop with cash only: Shopping with only cash will help you keep the budget you set. This way, when you run out of cash you have to stop shopping.

Following these tips can help keep you a low contributor to the massive holiday spending this year. Predictions for 2007 spending are already rolling in, so take a look at what is projected but be sure to keep your wallet out of the pot.

Christmas Gift Foibles

Posted by admin on Nov 5, 2009 under Christmas Gift Ideas

Ho! Ho! Ho! It’s time to play Santa. This Christmas, and holiday season, you should give your special lover at least one present that cannot be opened in front of anyone. This is a great way to get in a little extra time with one another. You might find yourself looking for something romantic, kinky, or even something that will seduce your lover. No matter what you are looking for it’s important to keep in mind that there are some things you will not want to give your other half this Christmas.

First, you need to assess the person you are buying this adult-themed present for. Are they somewhat straight-laced? Are they adventurous, romantic, or downright wild? It is important you keep this in mind because not all people are going to like all adult-themed gifts. Some people are going to like roleplay ideas while others might end up blushing at a common vibrator. Buy something based on the sexual appetite and adventure ranking the person already has.

Buying for a Woman
If you want to avoid a disastrous event when you watch her unwrap her present this year you should consider your gift giving goals. If you want to romance her, penis shaped candles and dicky soap on a rope is not going to be a good idea. While, these make good light hearted or gag gifts they do not fit in well in the romance department.

Similarly, if you are attempting to buy her lingerie, buy her something in a fabric that flatters her. If you are not sure what she likes to wear try looking in her closet. You should be able to get a general idea from what you find. If you see an abundance of satin do not go out on a limb and buy lace. Chances are she has that much satin for a reason.

Go with what you see! Also, make absolutely sure you buy her the right sizes. Sneak into her panty drawer and check before you buy. Buying her something in the wrong size will make it virtually useless and she probably will not be too thrilled you thought she was bigger (or smaller) than she is.

Recap:
When you are looking for good romantic gifts avoid the following:

1)No whips for good girls
2)No wrong sized garments
3)No dicky soap, candles, or anything else

Instead buy her the following:

1)A waterproof toy
2)A beginner anal or vaginal toy
3)A paddle for someone into BDSM
Something that looks sexy and will fit

Buying for a Man
When it comes to sexy gifts for men there are only a few things you need to avoid. These are fairly common things. For starters, avoid things you know he won’t like. If he doesn’t own one thong do not assume this one is going to be the one to convert him. Most men are very underwear loyal. If he wears boxers then find him a sexy pair, but do not assume you can convince him to wear something else.

If you are toy shopping, do not focus on things you can use on him. While you might think these things are romantic they could actually be a turn-off. If he is not interested in anal toys, restraints, or whips then you will either end up buying him something that he can use on you or something like massage oil, which is nice but not something just for him. Consider buying him a masturbatory toy such as a love doll, and inflatable doll, or a handheld device for private moments alone.

Recap:
When you are looking for good romantic gifts for him avoid the following:

1)No whips, chains, or restraints for men that don’t want to be tied up
2)No anal toys for men that have never spoken of anal sex
3)No thongs for boxer boys

Instead buy him the following:
1)A beginner anal toy for a curious possible receiver
2)A sexy pair of boxers or briefs(thongs if he wears them)
3)A masturbator

Additionally, a nice couple’s gift might be sexual furniture. You will find that no matter what you buy him or her, this furniture will definitely enhance any sexual experience so the different forms of furniture are worth the consideration.

Holiday Gift Wrapping Ideas

Gifts trimmed with flair:

Project creation, article and photo by: Madeleine M Langlois

Skill: Easy.

Materials & tools:

Assorted paper remnants, rice paper, plain coloured papers

Scissors

Glue gun and sticks

Double-face tape and regular adhesive tape

Ribbons in assorted colours, widths and styles

Assorted findings: custom jewellery, belt buckles, quilling paper strips, feathers, sequins, tinsel garland, wire, beads etc.

Fabric remnants, fun fur, taffeta, fuzzy wool, scrapbooking tools, snowflake punch, decorative edge scissors, hang tags, rub-on lettering

Also see each gift wrapping description.

(Materials for this project are available at arts and craft stores.

My favourite part of the holidays is wrapping the gifts. It is the perfect occasion to use up many remnants from various projects and to let my creativity run loose, just for fun. Since my wrapping room is shared with the laundry room, it is a sure place to find some peace of mind during all the craziness of the holidays.

Minimalist with a touch of Ritz, great gift wrapping ideas start with cool findings. The secret to achieve the look of these French bonbon gift wrappings is all in the trimmings. Personalized to make an impact, even simple gifts can look elegant with a little accent. Don’t be afraid to extend the colour palette beyond the traditional; it’s all good because, really, anything goes. Even though I used assorted colour combinations of bright turquoise, greens and blues with soft pastels amidst accents of silver, angelic whites and chocolate brown, the theme is what brings everything together.

Fuzzy wool for a cozy warm feeling: Super easy yet stylish. Once a gift is wrapped, affix one or two ribbons around the box and then wrap a few lengths of fuzzy wool as decorative trim around the package. Assorted fancy yarns provide an inexpensive and chic way to dress up bonbon or cracker-shaped gifts.

Rows of ribbons: Create basic plaid patterns using satin, grosgrain and velvet types of ribbons in assorted colours and widths over a tissue-paper wrapped gift. Garnish with dash of white tinsel garland. A length of wide satin ribbon looks stunning when applied over the centre of larger gifts and plain paper bags. Secure the ribbons at the back of a package using hot glue. Wide ribbons can also be adorned with lengths of fuzzy wool.

Bejewel using recycled jewellery and belt buckles: Recycle odds and ends jewellery pieces, earrings, and charms. Glue these onto a ribbon to create an elegant centre ornament. Paint plain or wooden buckles silver or gold (or any colour) and fasten a length of ribbon around a fabric-wrapped gift. Top it all off with a single feather.

Dazzling with sequins: Make your gifts sparkle and dazzle with sequins. Use by-the-yard sequins as you would ribbons. Double rows of brightly coloured sequins look spectacular onto plain silver-wrapped gifts. Further embellish by randomly gluing individual sequins on wrapped presents.

Quilling for snowman: Quilling, also known as paper filigree, is the art of rolling thin strips of paper into different shapes and using the shapes to form designs. Quilling papers comes in packages of assorted colours. Creative accents, such as plain snowman shapes or monograms, can be crafted to garnish plainly wrapped boxes. Affix designs to gifts using double-face tape. You can even apply the papers in flat strips or fashion a checked pattern. Simple swirls make wonderful gift garnishes.

Cut-it-out with paper snowflakes: So easy to make and yet so enchanting. They make magical trimmings onto gifts, in assorted sizes. Just cut snowflake shapes using scissors with folded plain or assorted types of recycled papers. You can even have the kids help you out with this one. Paper garlands can be quite stunning too.

Punched snowflakes: Paper punches with holiday designs are wonderful to use and incorporate into gift trimming. Using a snowflake design punch and assorted papers, from velum to silver, punch out snowflake shapes and glue them onto gifts, ribbons and cards, in a row or randomly. I even used the punched out negative to make decorative bands around gift boxes, and trimmed the edges with decorative scissors.

Monograms letters: Letters, initials make delightful gift topping accents and can be shaped with wire of various colours or beaded wires.

Fabric remnants: Excellent for wrapping larger gifts, and to use up fabrics that you know you won’t use within the next year or so. I utilized fun-fur remnants to make a snowman decoration onto a larger gift box.

Hang-tags embellished with rub-on decal lettering, clip art, micro beads and photos of the gift recipient also make fantastic gift trimmings.

Get wrapping and happy trimmings!

Tips: For all gifts wrapped using fabrics, make sure to iron out any creases out first and wrap the gifts as you would with paper wrapping. Use hot glue to secure the folds instead of tape.

Variations: Other creative gift wrappings include holiday dishtowels, table cloths, fabrics, and wallpaper. Or, you can opt to make the wrapping part of the gifts using a variety of household and clothing items.

Older Christmas tree ornaments that you are no longer using also make fun gift toppings.

Don’t be bashful to use colours such as lime green, hot pink, bright orange, mauves, vibrant turquoise and blue; They are very “in” and trendy colours this season.

Pretty packages can be integrated into your table decorations, to grace a mantel, or even used outdoors. Double them up and use as name card holders.

In Search Of The Perfect Christmas Gift

Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009 under Christmas Gift Ideas

It was undoubtedly a different time when Saint Nick was selling off all of his worldly possessions and telling all about the joys of giving. However, he never had to sit in a monstrous traffic jam, drive around for hours in the car while looking for an available parking space, or grapple with the thousands of other shoppers at the mall.

Since that time, the search for the perfect Christmas gift has become much more stressful. Besides that, the average shopper does not stumble into the shopping malls and department stores until a few weeks, or even mere days before Christmas.

Finding the perfect Christmas gift is quickly becoming a science to be studied, observed, and taught. Sometimes you are given a cheat sheet of sorts, the infamous wish list. And then you have the incredibly fun “surprise me” Christmas gift requests that force you to pull out the red-striped thinking cap (complete with bells).

Finding The Gift Niche

One unique way to show your love and consideration for your family and friends is by making personalized and homemade Christmas gifts. Don’t go crazy with tinsel and your glue gun, and sequins are fine if used sparingly. You can easily put together gift baskets with bath and body supplies, small decorative soaps, candles, and even a pair of slippers for the ladies. For men, treats such as flavored almonds, mixed nuts, and an assortment of chocolate and candies will usually put a smile on his face.

Another good idea for those considering giving Christmas gifts with a personal touch is a calendar. You can create a photo collage, or choose different pictures for each month. Many major office supply stores now offer this service, as well as other personalized items such as coffee mugs and mouse pads.

It you would prefer to do the project entirely hands-on, there are certain computer programs that can be purchased to create one-of-a-kind calendars. Everyone uses calendars, so this is one Christmas gift that will not be put away and forgotten.

Gift cards have been gaining in popularity as a “one size fits all” gift. You can select the store and the amount, and you are good to go. If you are not sure where that special person on your shopping list prefers to shop, many shopping malls now offer gift checks that can be redeemed at any store within their walls. You can also purchase a gift card with the Visa, Mastercard, or American Express logo. This way your Christmas gift can be used just about anywhere and for anything.

Christmas Window Display Ideas

Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009 under Christmas Gift Ideas

Mannequins are wonderful props for adding life to your store displays. With proper lighting and a few inventive ideas you can really make a mannequin come alive. Consider the difference in a little girl mannequin wearing a pretty Christmas dress and the same little girl opening a gift, discovering the teddy bear of her dreams and her parents looking lovingly on her. Emotion will really get your customers into the Christmas spirit. Tug at their heartstrings a little and it could really pay off.

The first step is to choose the outfits that you would like to display. Layering works great on mannequins and you can feature many different products at once. Be careful not to overdo it. You don’t want to detract attention away from the feeling that you’re going to convey. Children mannequins and life-like baby dolls are great for getting to parents’ hearts. Imagine children sleeping in their beds, while Dad dressed as Santa sneaks a kiss. This can be a very touching scene, especially if Mom is watching this tender moment. The more emotions you can display, the more memorable and effective your display will be.

The use of animals is effective as well. Let’s say that the child is receiving his first puppy for Christmas. The puppy sneaking out of the box is cute, but keep the emotion in mind. The little boy plays a major part in pulling this scene together. He could discover the puppy after it destroyed its box and be shocked. He could sneak down early and play with the puppy as Santa’s legs are disappearing up the chimney. His parents could discover him downstairs curled up asleep with the puppy by the fire. The puppy could have escaped the gift and went to sleep with the little boy in his bed. The possibilities are really endless.

If you don’t specialize in children’s clothing, you could go for a romantic approach. A husband and wife snuggled up opening gifts shows a lot more affection than two mannequins standing wearing clothes. If you don’t want to get elaborate, a simple touch can be meaningful. Mannequins facing straight forward doesn’t really mean anything. A woman walking away and a man sneaking a small gift wrapped box into her pocket has meaning. Angled mannequins are generally more appealing to the eye than dead-on straight forward ones. Another idea is to have the man and woman meeting. She drops her gifts and as he’s helping her recover, they exchange a long stare, or he presents her with an engagement ring.

Plan out your display far enough in advance to order what ever props you may need. Decide on which emotion you would like to portray and go for it. You can even select the holiday music in your store to match the theme. Don’t forget about the lighting. A dimly lit display draws very little attention, no matter how imaginative the theme is. Have fun with it and don’t hold back. Enjoy your holiday season and make the most of your front window displays.
